Actually they are pretty good, they haven't bothered it once.

They did knock my roommate's over but I think it was because it was in their way.

Objects should not be placed in the way of cats.
After we first acquired cats in the early 70s, the Christmas tree had to go in a space of its own behind a screen blocking the archway. The first attempt at blocking soon failed when Troubsie, the black cat, was seen industriously chewing his way through the plastic bird mesh we'd used in the initial attempt. We had to replace it with metal chicken wire :)
