This was always my favorite Sylvester lp cover. He was sent to do a photo session and asked to "butch it up" a little, now that Sylvester had the potential to reach the masses. A photoshoot dressed like this is what he did to "butch it up". God I loved the guts that man had.

It wasn't used on the album, Mutual Attraction, which would be his last. But it was used to promote a posthumously released collection of tracks.

I can't wait to hear him singing again in Heaven.

Com'on Honey, Ew Baby Girl, don't even think

He was a charming…….”yung thing” as he would say. He lived across the street from me in San Francisco……many many fond memories…and a few stories that still make me laugh with a evil smile. Just watching him put himself over the sides of that moped and slowly climb the Corbett Street hill, sometimes barely sober enough to keep his balance…always a vision of Isadora Duncan and scarves and axels. Listen to his music, all the time, great travel’n tunes for the car.

I have that album! At least I used to...

I love Sylvester, even though falsetto singers usually make me want to throw chairs through plate glass windows. Sylvester was just so "out there" that you had to respect him for just being what he was.

"Sylvester, sister, you're an angel flying above us..."

In heaven popular singers are booked billions of years in advance. Sometimes their performances sell out within minutes of going on sale. Still, eternal life means you get to see every performer an infinite number of times.

I remember back when I first heard Sylvester, it was 1986 and I had seen his vidclip for "Living For The City" and decided I had to have some of his records. When next I was in the record store, I found the 12-inch for "Someone Like You" and with its Keith Haring cover art decided it was not possible for Sylvester to be more cool! Back then, I put records onto mix tapes to play in the kitchen I was working in and my co-worker Butch (who lived up to his name) commented, "That's Sylvester! He's a sissy but damn he can sang!" Butch claimed to have seen him hold court from the stage at some COGIC church he attended and regaled me with the full details of his testifying, wish I could remember those details. Luckily Sylvester's original hits showed up on CD soon thereafter and I was so thrilled to have another 'androgynous' performer to admire. I still envy his fearlessness.

how fitting that i should say hello in this post

Hi! i'm relocating to NYC next month. I'm looking for a place, but in NY state only because of tuition. I understand you're in NJ. But if you hear of availability in NY, will you give a shout? Thanks in advance. I'd love to have an opportunity to meet with you!

I have the same issue with tuition. However once I figured out the tax savings by using NJ as my residence, it more than made up for it :)

Good luck with your move.
